Description: A lovely spot-free solid brown out of SCA Peruvian Desert Sun, this Misty Maiden granddaughter is a constant eye-catcher at our ranch. An easy birther and attentive mom, she is the kind of female that you wish ALL females were. Let's talk about fleece: How does 20.6 microns sound in a mature deeply-colored production female? Add to that a 4.3 SD and a CV of 20.9, with only 3.3% fibers over 30 and you have the makings of a very soft sweater to wear next to the skin!

Rachel reproduced her exact color when bred to Crescent Moon's Achenar and to our Avanti, so in 2007 we bred her to Aladdin to see if the black from her grandsire 5Peruvian Black Ice would come through. We'll know in September whether this cria is a rich brown or a black. Either way, it will be splendid! Rachel is slated to be bred to Sunny Mesa Tuscan Gold after the cria comes in September. This should be a marvelous combination!

When Crescent Moon Ranch bought Rachel's mother from us, we withheld the cria from the sale...and are very glad we did! To sweeten the deal, we named the female cria born in the spring of 2004 after Debbie Smith's daughter Rachel (she's the one who answers the phone most of the time at CMR).

A brief halter show career yielded a 2nd at TXOLAN and a 1st in Breeders best at the Houston Livestock Show. Her fleece has earned 2 Blues at the Great Western and the Rocky Mountain Alpaca Fleece Harvest. And it should be entered again this year, looking at her small sine-wave crimp and uniform locks even at 4 years and on her 3rd pregnancy...but we'll leave that up to you after your proud purchase of this lovely female.
